A pair of George III silver candlesticks, by John Scofield, London 1796, the separate bobeches with gadrooned edge, on cylindrical stems, each decorated with bands of acanthus leaves, on circular foot, the foot and bobeche crested, 32.5cmH Provenance: from the estate of Elizabeth Pepys-Cockerell, whose husband John was a descendant of the diarist Samuel Pepys. His ancestors had a long association with Sezincote in Gloucestershire
