John Masefield. (1878-1967). ALS. An autograph letter written on two sides of a single sheet of paper addressed from “Boars Hill, Oxford.”

John Masefield. (1878-1967). ALS. An autograph letter written on two sides of a single sheet of paper addressed from “Boars Hill, Oxford.” The undated letter is thanking the recipient, Mrs M. Y. Barrett, for her letter and in it part refers to his novel Odtaa, which was first published in 1926, a fictional tale set in the imaginary state of Santa Barbara in Latin America. In his reply Masefield makes reference to Rosas, this is Jean Manuel de Rosas (1793-1877) a South American dictator.

 

* The Masefield's lived at Boars Hill between 1926 and 1932.
