Bouquet, Michel. The Tourist’s Ramble in the Highlands. 36 plates of the Most Interesting and Pittoresques Views of Scotland Delineated from Nature and Lithographied. London and Paris. Large folio, n. d. [c. 1845].

Lithographic title page and 35 lithographs on 24 leaves of thick paper, the lithographs printed on India paper and laid in. The original paper-covered lithographically printed boards with green cloth spine.

Condition Report

The covers rubbed, soiled and worn with some minor losses.

This sale includes a fine collection of 4 Albrecht Dürer engravings from the collection of Sir Clifford Curzon and Lady Curzon. Another great treasure to be offered in the sale is a copy of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (1570), the Theatre of the World. This vellum bound collection of 70 engraved maps on 53 double page map sheets is the work of Abraham Ortelius, and the work is considered to be the first modern atlas.
