Lot 123: 1950 AC 2 litre drophead coupe conversion Un-UK Registered.
To be sold at our Classic Car and Automobilia Sale on 19th Oct 2013
Catalogue Description
1950 AC 2 litre drophead coupe conversion Un-UK Registered.
AC cars are the UK's longest established manufacturer. The companies first venture into the automotive world was a two seat "trike" known as The Sociable. They would, of course go on to make the legendary Cobra.
On offer here is a barn find 2 litre. Eleven of these cars were built as drophead coupes, and several other of the saloons were later converted, this being one of them. It is structurally very sound and comes with a Triumph 2000 engine ready fitted into the chassis. It does also, however, come with a complete Ac 2 litre engine and gearbox which appear to have been overhauled.
The engine was recently started and ran smoothly showing a good pilpressure. Here one has the perfect basis for a restoration as the car is complete, just needing a new hood and hood frame, and plenty of elbow grease to complete.
A pair of these ACs are regularly used at Goodwood Revival as period taxis - why not make it a tryptich?
