Lot 118: 2011 BMW 7 series Limousine.
To be sold at our Classic Car and Automobilia Sale on 19th Oct 2013
2011 BMW 7 series Limousine.
One of a fleet of 200 provided by BMW for the wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco. For the 2011 wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco, BMW contracted to provide 200 identical 7 series limos for the exclusive use of the wedding guests. This left hand drive example is one of those. Giving the usual luxurious appointments of the 7 series an added tweak, BMW customised these cars with all the trappings of Grimaldi finery - including hand stitched monogrammed cushions and the like. The owner, who bought the car with 2011 kms on the clock from the Monaco concessionaires BAC Monte Carlo on 28th July 2011, takes up the story: "It is from the fleet of 200. There were quite a few variations in the fleet. Some were the Limousine version fully loaded, like mine, and others were the standard length 7 series with very few options. Whether the car came directly from the Grimaldi's or BMW I am not certain. My understanding is that the Principality of Monaco bought the cars from BMW for the wedding with the understanding that BMW would sell them afterwards. The BMW garage in Monaco was allotted 10 cars to sell. The fun bit was they were the only ones allowed to give the original Monaco number plate used for the wedding, in my case number "M628"" A potentially unique opportunity to acquire a motor car of luxury with genuine and provable Royal connections. The car will need to be re-registered if it is to stay in the UK, but does come with that historically signficant number plate as well as a number of photographs of it in the wedding procession, with double motor cycle outriders. A stunning and impressive motor car.
