Lot 202: 1965 Riley Elf saloon.
To be sold at our Classic Cars & Automobilia Sale on 26th Apr 2014
1965 Riley Elf saloon.
1965 Riley Elf saloon. When the Mini was launched in 1959 to massive acclaim, it came as an Austin Se7en or a Morris Mini Minor. This was fine as far as it went, but left two of the core former Nuffield companies without representation in the "Mini Market" - thus the designers at BMC went to work and, buy adding tail fins to the rearr and a distinctive grille and side vents at the front, created Riley and Wolseley varients. The Riley was the more sporting of the two and gace all leather interior, lashings of wood dashboard and quality car pretentions to the workaday Mini. It also came with a 998cc engine, an improvement over the standard Mini 850.
The Elf on offer today was comprehensively restored in Scotland around 10 years ago. It comes with a fullsome and comprehensive history file which includes a rally plater and other items. Sold with a brand new MOT Certificate and tas disc valid until the end of November this year, this economical, yet nippy machine would make a great summer classic. It's durability witneessed by its 280odd mile drive to be in Bridport today, all achieved on one £25 fill of the tank. Such economy and style!
Price Achieved: £3600.00
