Lot 1005: An extremely rare original right hand drive
To be sold at our Sporting, Cars & General Sale on 4th Oct 2018
An extremely rare original right hand drive 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Sports Sedan 4 door in black. This is a Canadian built car imported new to England in 1947. A copy of the General Motors Chevrolet build sheet is available to view to prove this. The car is in Condition 3 and 'patinated'. It is in a good mechanical condition, with original specification 216 cubic inch overhead valve six cylinder engine and three speed manual gear box. This car is used regularly and is reliable. It is currently taxed and insured. It has had a new brake master cylinder, and complete brakes replaced, replacement clutch, hoses and new front wheel bearings. (All spares are readily available via companies such as 'Chevs of the 40s) . Structurally sound, usable and imposing, it has character. The collector may prefer to respray the car and retrim the interior, but it has an aged charm that is difficult to replace as it is. The original vacuum windscreen wipers still work, as do the lights, but the fuel gauge and horn do not. There is work to do on this car, with some adjustment needed on the gear linkages, but it is a good sound basis for improvement. It has working fitted indicators too. There are some spares to go with the vehicle, including a spare engine for rebuild etc. The log book is in the current owners name and the Chevrolet is taxed and insured and used all year round.
Price Achieved: £5360.00
