Lt. Lewis Vaslette (1742-1808) Portrait of a Gentleman in a Black Coat, unframed, oil on copper, 28 x 8cm Born York. Lieutenant in 25th Regiment of Foot. Left the service and travelled to Italy. Exhibited at RA (10) 1770-82. Worked from York 1770, 1771 and 1778, Bath 1787, Norwich 1793 and Oxford 1780, 1790 and 1796, where he advertised himself as an 'artist in crayons (miniatures and likenesses)'.
